About Lamahatta

Developed as a community-supported eco-tourism destination in 2012, Lamahatta is perched at an elevation of approximately 1,700 meters (5,700 feet) on the Darjeeling-Kalimpong highway. The village beautifully blends natural majesty with rich Himalayan tribal culture, being home to communities like the Sherpas, Tamangs, Yalmos, and Bhutias. The atmosphere here is deeply meditative, filled with the fresh scent of conifers and the soft rustle of mountain breezes.

Best Time to Visit

October to May (Winter brings bright, clear views of Mt. Kanchenjunga and blooming flowers, while spring offers lush greenery and cool weather).

Climate

Mountain climate. Summers (April to June) are very pleasant and cool, with temperatures ranging from 12°C to 20°C. Monsoons (June to September) bring dense mountain fog and heavy rainfall. Winters (November to February) are crisp and chilly, with temperatures dropping between 2°C and 10°C, making it cozy and atmospheric.
